Monorail Red Evacuation - Updated

August 23rd, 2008

Sadly, it looks as though last weeks repairs for Seattle’s Monorail Red were a bit underwhelming.

The 1962 prototype system stalled today at approximately 4:00 pm, and the fire crews had everyone evacuated by 5:15 pm. The Seattle Times reports that it was leaking air valve, and that the monorail will under go testing to resume service as early as tomorrow.

Portland gets Snarky

August 10th, 2008

Well, it was probably only a matter of time.  In our interviews with Seattlites, new urbanists, and general public transit enthusiasts, they frequently point to Portland as a (debatable) picture of success.

In exchange, Steve Duin has taken note of Seattle’s troubles, and pointed them out in today’s paper.

At least he recognizes the power of a t-shirt.  For the complete article, please follow the link:

Production Update: Redrockmicro M2

August 5th, 2008

It has indeed taken some doing, but we are pleased to report that we have successfully mated our Panasonic HD camera to the Redrockmicro M2.

After several months of tuningd adjusting, Brian Valente of Redrock personally helped us correct the issues, and determine both a faulty component and configuration.

This means we can now properly adjust backfocus, and setup our lenses accordingly.

In plain speak, it means we have made the transition to HD, and now have a working camera.

Thanks to the Redrock Micro team for stepping up and helping us out.
